Today marks World Cocktail Day (13th May) and we are never one to shy away from a good ol’ knees up. Shaken or stirred, we have an array of classic, contemporary and classy cocktails that you can enjoy today and add to your little black book of recipes to impress any guest. From tequila based cocktails with a unique backstory to damn right delicious drinks that are easily drinkable and best served with friends (and ice) - what ever you are doing this World Cocktail Day, make sure to drink and stay safe and responsible, and have a glass for us!
Calvados Appletini
This incredible take on the classic martini has a sweetened and sharp note from the versatile spirit Avallen that was designed to be mixed and creative. Not sure one of these will keep the doctor away, but it will sure make your tastebuds happy.
30ml Avallen Calvados
30ml Ketal One Vodka
45ml Eager Apple Juice
Slice of Apple
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into a chilled martini glass
Garnish with a slice of apple
Planter’s Punch
Curtosey of Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum which launched late 2020, this delicious cocktail has taken inspiration from America via Jamaica and was published in every magazine in its era. This will definitely be one you will want to keep up your bartender’s sleeve.
90ml Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum
20ml Fresh Lime Juice
30ml Simple Syrup
1 Spoonful of Grenadine
3 Dashes of Bitters
Soda Water
Mint Sprig
Everything is shaken and served over crushed ice in a Collins glass.
Finish off with a dash of soda water and a mint sprig
Storywood Flight of the Hummingbird
Using Storywood Tequila’s unique taste and combination this delicious cocktail celebrates both Mexican and Scottish flavours and cultures. The hummingbird itself symbolises the founder, who is Scottish born’s first trip to Mexico and is the perfect cocktail for anyone looking for something a little creative - but be careful, it floats like a hummingbird but stings like a bee, packing a punch at 40% ABV.
40ml Storywood Speyside 7 Reposado
20ml Mango Liqueur
10ml Agave Nectar
15ml The Scottish Bee Company Raspberry and Ginger Shrub
1 Egg White
Add all the ingredients to a shaker and dry shake.
Add ice to the shaker and shake again until the shaker feels cold.
Fine strain into a chilled coupé glass and garnish with an edible flower

VIVIR Paloma
Made using VIVIR’s unique addition of 100% Weber Blue Agave and natural volcanic spring water with their aged tequila’s - Reposado and Anejo which are finished in American Oak ex-bourbon barrels to create a truly delicious and smooth taste and finish that is worth it’s weight in salt and pairs perfectly with the bitter sharpness of the grapefruit in this classic cocktail with VIVIR’s twist.
50ml VIVIR Tequila Blanco or Reposado
10ml Agave Syrup
10ml Lime Juice
60ml Pink Grapefruit Juice
Soda Water or Grapefruit Soda to fill the glass
Wedge of Pink Grapefruit
Lime Slice
Sea Salt
Wipe a slice of lime around the rim of a highball glass.
Then dip into sea salt so the rim is coated.
Grab a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
Add all ingredients except the soda water.
Shake for around 20 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
Place some ice into your prepared highball glass, pour in your cocktail and top up with soda water or grapefruit soda.
Add the pink grapefruit wedge and enjoy.
Mojito
According to Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum the origins of this drink are a little like the beloved drink itself - a little murky: some say it was invented in the 1500s, others in the 1800's with the birth of Bacardi. But this delicious concoction takes the spice level to a whole new height.
1 Lime, Quarterd,
1 Barspoon of Fine Sugar
Handful of Mint Leaves
60ml of Hawksbill Caribbean Spiced Rum
Soda Water
Mint Sprig
Pour the rum, stirring with a bar spoon, slap the mint and add to the glass
Add 1/3 of crushed ice and stir
Top up with soda water and more crushed ice, gently stir and garnish with a mint sprig
Strawberries and Cream Tea
This delightfully quintessential cocktail embodies the spirit of the British summer, with its delicious strawberry and cream flavour topped with mint and finished with lemon. Perfect on its own or served in this contemporary cocktail that would please even the Royalist of Highnesses.
50ml TW Kempton Strawberries & Cream Gin Liqueur
25ml Lemon Juice
Handful of Mint
3 Sliced Strawberries
Soda or Lemonade
Roll and dirty pour into a jam jar with ice
Top with soda or lemonade.

20ml Nettle Cordial
3 Mint Spring, Leaves Picked
Orange Wedge
Soda
Build the first four ingredients into a highball with crushed ice.
Churn and top with soda
Crown with more crushed ice
Garnish with a mint sprig and an orange wedge
