As we enter a new year of festivities and celebrations, still on lockdown we have to use all our expertise we gathered over 2020 and create a special moment, right in the comfort of your own home. Whether you are celebrating solo, or having a virtual get-together (make sure to follow #VirtualBurnsNight to join in with the festivities) - we can all raise a dram (or two) together this Burn’s Night. And if you want something even more special, we have just the thing for you. A selection of the most delicious recipes inspired by the life and poetry of Robert Burns and his homeland - Scotland. With Scotch whisky being the main focal point, these cocktails are sure to get you feeling the rhythmic melodies of Burn’s - but don’t worry if whisky is not your dram, we have a few alternatives so everyone can celebrate. We have the drinks sorted, so now all you have to do is get your haggis and neeps & tatties ready to serve along side!
Robert Burns
This classic cocktail, created by drinks retailer Bottle Club pays tribute to Scotland’s finest exports. Building on the traditional combination of Vermouth and Scotch, and adding an element of sophistication with a dash of absinthe.
60ml Scotch Whisky
20ml Sweet Vermouth
Dash Orange Bitters
Dash Absinthe
Add ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, then stir well and strain into a tumbler.
Ice and orange twist optional.
Highland Park Salted Honey Old Fashioned
This particular cocktail really emphasises the salty, heather honey notes of the Highland 12 year old whisky and is a brilliant alternative to those who appreciates complex flavours. It’s best served with an orange twist to really accentuate those flavours even more.
50ml Highland Park 12 Year Old
10ml Honey Syrup
Pinch of smoked sea salt
Dash of orange bitters
Dash of Angostura bitters
Add all ingredients to an ice filled mixing glass
Stir for 25 seconds and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice
Garnish with an orange twist
The Macallan Sherry Copa
Serving this cocktail in a Spanish-style Copa is the perfect way to showcase this delicious cocktail. The Sherry Oak is accentuated perfectly by the addition of Oloroso. If you’re after a premium cocktail to celebrate Burns Night then this is a fabulous choice.
40ml The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Year Old
20ml Oloroso sherry
Top with tonic water
Fill the glass two thirds with ice
Pour in the ingredients in the order listed and stir
Add the lemon wheel to garnish
The Rusty Nail
Dubbed by The Bottle Club as the ultimate Scotch cocktail, this sophisticated drink is meant for slow-sipping and contains a very simple mix of Scotch and Drambuie and served over the rocks. It may sound simple but the combination is anything but.
45ml Scotch Whisky
20ml Drambuie
Simply combine the liquids into a mixing glass and stir well before pouring over ice into a tumbler.
Rogue Wolf
Robert Burns once wrote a poem entitled Parcel o’ Rogues, so it is no surprise that Scottish distiller LoneWolf, from BrewDog Distilling Co., collaborated with Australian quaffing vermouth Regal Rogue for this riff on a Negroni thats sure to be a talking point.
25ml LoneWolf Gin
25ml Regal Rogue Bold Red Vermouth
25ml Campari
Splash Pomegranate Juice
Orange Wedge, Studded with Cloves - optional
Fill a rocks glass with ice, add 25ml LoneWolf Gin, 25ml Regal Rogue Bold Red vermouth, 25ml Campari, a splash of pomegranate juice and garnish with a orange wedge studded with cloves.

Not a whisky fan? We have you covered. Why not bring the warmth of Mexico with a tequila inspired Burn’s cocktail instead? This delicious tequila may have the heart of Mexico but has the soul of Scotland with 100% agave liquid expertly aged in single malt whisky casks from Speyside making it the perfect cocktail creation for those who want something a little different.
50ml Speyside 14 Añejo
10ml agave syrup
Orange peel
2 dashes of bitters
Stir half the tequila and with three cubes of ice in a glass.
Add agave syrup, bitters and two more ice cubes, before stirring again.
Add rest of tequila before stirring once more.
Add more ice cubes if room and garnish with an orange peel
The Rob Roy
Named after an operetta that narrated the classic folklore tale of the great Scottish hero who supported the poor this drink is as sweet as the tale. Essentially a Scotch version of the classic Manhattan cocktail - replacing the bourbon or rye whisk with Scotch and added sweet vermouth for a richer deep flavour. Created by The Bottle Club
60ml Scotch Whisky
25ml Sweet Vermouth
Dash Angostura Bitters
Cherry (Garnish)
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice (minus the garnish) and stir well before straining into a cold Nick and Nora or Martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.

This traditional Burn’s Night cocktail has been created by Jason Scott, owner of Bramble Bar to give the classic - The Bobby Burns and J&B Rare twist that is best stirred rather than shaken; we just love and can’t wait to share with our friends and family.
50ml J&B Rare
25ml Balthazar Vermouth
5ml Benedictine
2 dashes of Peychaud Bitters.
Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour in all the ingredients.
Stir and strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a fresh lemon peel twist.
